THE ARTISTRY BEHIND DISPLAYS
Displays are only one small step away from packaging, and it’s a step we took in the earliest days of the company. Windows, countertops, store aisles, furniture… The displays FPM designs and creates for leading watchmaking and jewelry brands are tailored to suit every space and in-store experience.
Designing displays
Whether it’s attracting attention, telling a story, enhancing a product, expressing its special features, explaining its function, or allowing in-store trials, every industry has its own retail and merchandizing customs.
Displays serve a dual purpose: they convey the brand’s image while playing a more pragmatic, functional role in trade marketing. Their designs have to reflect both of these dimensions.
When FPM designs high-end packaging we have to fulfill that same criteria, putting forward our proposals in terms of size, opening system, material selection, and the delicate interweaving of different areas of expertise. Our watchmaking and jewelry clients are often tasked with both packaging and in-store staging. With our mastery of tradition and complex construction, we’re often asked to apply our packaging designs to displays.
Smaller quantities, sizes adapted to points of sale, sustainability, the option of removing decorations, recyclability… Here at FPM, we understand retail goals and provide custom-fit solutionsto suit your brand’s aesthetic styles and strategies.
Constructing displays
Display production at FPM is an area of expertise that goes hand in hand with packaging production. Displays require a very specific knowledge base due to their unique constraints. Given that they decorate spaces accessible to the public, we have to take various precautions, especially when it comes to material: fireproofing wood to limit its flammability in case of fire; fabrics that don’t fade when exposed to sunlight in windows; glues that resist temperature changes, and much more.
Display stands, cloches, trays, sample holders, window or countertop displays, demonstration briefcases and even furniture we’re at your side from prototyping all the way to construction, helping to shine a light on project feasibility. We include tool life cycle analysis from design to recyclability – just like for our packaging constructions, which are boosted by the DIAM Group’s skills in merchandizing and eco-friendliness.
From packaging to displays, quality remains the cornerstone of our business. Complete mastery of handiwork is also essential for producing every piece that goes into displays with the utmost precision, like the stands for earrings, watches, rings, and necklaces. These stands are made of thousands of tiny pieces that need to be cut out, lined, lacquered, and decorated with several different materials and techniques. The FPM teams take great care of every element, because every detail matters.
The Roberto Coin example
Roberto Coin is one of the most renowned Italian jewelers. We’ve been supporting Roberto Coin in creating their multi-brand institutional displays since 2019.
Each piece is tailor-made to adjust to the size of each jewel, which requires great precision during the lining process. We use a particularly malleable fabric that perfectly adapts to the curves of busts, the angles of large stands, or the tiny detailed pieces. Between lining, metallic lacquering, and screen printing, the MDF structures play with volumes, balancing precision and softness.
From packaging to displays, the exceptional is the norm!
